What is Ethereum “Merge” and its Advantages & Disadvantages?

ETH is currently the 2nd largest Cryptocurrency by market Cap and one of the largest Layer 1 ecosystem.

Ethereum is to undergo a massive transformation known as the Merge. Eth will transit from Proof-Of-Work (PoW) to Proof-Of-Stake (PoS). This merge will decrease the energy consumption by about 99%. So ETH blockchain transactions would become cheaper for validators. This Merge is scheduled to happen on 15th September.

Advantages :

• Environmental benefits with decreased energy consumption
• Decreases issuance of ETH by 4.2% yearly
• Increased Blockchain speed
• Decreased fees

Disadvantages :

Disadvantages are nothing in comparison to Advantages, still somw to look are

• This transition from PoW to PoS took a lot of time by the developers, so its more challenging task due to volume on ETH network.

So, It can be concluded that this ETH merge is beneficial for both users and the validators due to lots of advantages.
